The Western Kings Memorial Health Society in the Community
Kings County Seniors' Safety Society
The Western Kings Memorial Health Society annually supports this Society. Kings County has the fastest growing population of seniors in Nova Scotia outside the Municipality of Halifax. Around 10,000 seniors live in Kings County.
Through the Seniors Safety Program, they are

Increasing the sense of connectedness seniors feel within their communities;

Increasing the number of seniors provided with safety and security information throughout Kings County;

Increasing partnerships between senior service providers and encouraging referrals, combined projects, and senior-focused events; and
-
Reporting on progress to interested participants, sponsors, and partners.
Active Kids, Healthy Kids
The Western Kings Memorial Health Society has been actively involved in the Western Kings Active Kids Healthy Kids program since its inception in 2004. Other partners are Nova Scotia Health & Wellness, the Municipality of the County of Kings, Berwick Recreation, Kingston Recreation, Kingston/Greenwood Community Health Board, and the Western Kings Community Health Board.
The object of the program is to increase physical activity and youth in Western Kings County. This fund is meant to help the community to address innovative, nontraditional, creative, physical activity initiatives that enable youth and their families to lead physically active lifestyles.
Project examples: before or after school activities, new recreational youth sports, outdoor activities (snowshoeing, tennis, road hockey, etc), Girls in Motion, and youth fitness.
Previously Funded Groups: Scouts, Guides, Schools, Clubs, Community Associations, Youth Groups, and Special Needs Groups.
The Western Kings Memorial Health Society Scholarship
In recognition of its mission statement, the Western Kings Memorial Health Society annually offers two $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a post-secondary education in the healthcare profession who live in the Berwick area.
